Stories from the Hidden Worlds - Manila, Philippines

World's Most Dangerous Roads - All Episodes: https://www.youtube.com/playli....st?list=PLLgqOez346Z

The Manila North Cemetery was formerly part of La Loma Cemetery but was separated as an exclusively Catholic burial ground. The cemetery formerly known as Cemeterio del Norte was laid out in 1904. Some of the people living here are interested in the cemetery. People who live in grave houses and there is no healthy electricity and water. They are complaining about their government because they don’t give any help.

Glistening skyscrapers and Spanish colonial architecture merge in the Philippine capital of Manila. Tucked away in a corner of this overcrowded coastal metropolis, the Manila North Cemetery has stood for more than 100 years. The cemetery’s stacked tombs house around a million of the dead.
And ten thousand of the living. Atop elaborate mausoleums, the people here have erected shanties and put down familial roots. The cemetery is home to some of Manila’s poorest residents – residents who inexorably display the resourcefulness needed to survive here. An entire way of life has flourished in death’s midst. And the people here maintain a delicate equilibrium, between life and death, rich and poor, hope and despair.
