What’s more painful: a punch in the nose or a venomous ant sting? We can figure it out. With the help of a "dol". Dol is a unit of measurement of pain. From the word "dolor", meaning "pain". This measure was suggested by the doctors from Cornell University back in nineteen forty. The researchers inflicted pain upon medical students and pregnant women by applying heat of varying intensities to their bodies. And recorded their reactions. But since pain is highly subjective, the dol didn’t become known internationally and never found its way into common use. However, the doctors’ work and the test subjects’ sufferings shouldn’t be in vain. Though the resulting system is imperfect, it gives an overview of the intensity of pain of a diverse nature. So, I suggest using it. What about playing the "Would you rather" game and finding out how resilient you are? In this video you’ll also find out: can money make up for suffering? And what is the most painful thing a human being could endure?
Gigantic monsters that sink our ships raze entire cities to the ground and can destroy all humankind! We love telling scary stories about enormous creatures with immense strength. And some of them are not fantasies but real giants.
In this video, you’ll find out: how big are the creatures living on Earth right now? Why did ancient animals use to grow to such a colossal size? And which of the creatures that ever lived on Earth is the largest?
The night sky looks so peaceful and serene. But if you take a closer peek, you’ll see a battlefield. Everywhere you look, titans clash to death. Some of them are ramming each other at high speeds like war elephants. Others are practicing joint locks like judo fighters.
And this interstellar gang attacked a lonesome opponent and tore it into pieces. Colliding galaxies are the most spectacular events in our universe. And someday, our roles will switch from the audience watching this action show to its participants.
Andromeda and our Milky Way will get into a deadly battle in four billion years. In this video, you’ll find out: which of the galaxies is “stronger” and better prepared for the fight? Does it mean that all stars will collide up in the sky above our heads?
And what fate will await us in the heat of the galactic clash?

530 million years ago the very first creatures
emerged from the oceans to finally lay claim to the land, thanks to which we now have the pleasure of walking on solid ground.
But, like any joys in life, it may come to
an end sooner or later, as by the year 2100, ocean
levels will have risen by a little over two feet, or 66 cm.
And as more time passes, even more land will
sink into the depths of the world’s seas and
oceans.
Many people will simply have to at least partially return to an aquatic way of life.
So then, the
question is: Will this cause us evolve back into aquatic or semi-aquatic sea creatures?

That is Earth in eight hundred years. Or, perhaps, in half a century. Or even in a year. And that’s not science fiction: if some known asteroids hit it, our planet can really get rings like those around Saturn.
What’s more, in the distant past, Earth already had them, and not only once.
In this video, you’ll find out: where do planets get such space accessories from? Why do we owe our lives to the rings of Earth? And why wouldn’t you want our planet to have them back soon?
Moving is like experiencing a fire, flood and being robbed all at the same time. And we're merely talking about changing apartments or houses. But what if I say that one day we'll have to move to another planet? For example, to Mars.

Did you ever wonder how dangerous being neighbors with a black hole can be? Watch the NASA video with the terrible details of one of them having its lunch! A black hole with six million times the mass of our Sun tore a star to pieces and swallowed it. This happened in the constellation Volans the flying fish at a distance of 375 million light-years from our solar system.
But what if such a monster were hiding near our cosmic border, ready to cross it at any time? how close are black holes to the earth? And at what distance can we feel safe from them?
It’s much more likely to die from an accidentally falling brick than from a spider bite. Now, imagine that luck wasn’t on your side and you still came across the most venomous spider. And, even worse, you swallowed it. Would you be able to survive?

It was recently discovered that we can be sucked into a supermassive black hole! And the things you’re about to find out will greatly expand your awareness of space. A new study of Russian researchers Nikolai Gorkavy and Sergey Tulbashev truly shocked the scientific community, since it’s too different from the standard cosmological model of the «one-time Universe». Astrophysicists suggested that our Universe undergoes hundreds of expansion and compression cycles. People far from physics and astronomy will think "Well, if I got shrank, I’d notice that". This process is very difficult to explain. But I’ll help you figure it out because as it turns out, we can actually witness the next compression cycle. Scientists also refer to the existence of a supermassive black hole that will eventually consume our Universe together with us.
In this video, you will find out: what will happen to you when the Universe starts shrinking? Why can all the black holes merge into one? And most importantly, you’ll get an insight into the controversial issue "Can black holes consume the Universe?
